Solomon Islands Government
The Coalition for National Unity and Rural Advancement (CNURA) government which took office in December 2007 made reconciliation its top priority. Weeks after it came into power the CNURA government translated its priorities into what it calls its policy document. The policy document outlines a number of priority areas the CNURA government wished to address while in office. The CNURA government has six priority areas and they are;
1. Reconciliation and Rehabilitation
2. National Security and Foreign relations
3. Infrastructure development
4. Social Services Sector
5. Economic and productive sector
6. Civic affairs
Of all the six priority areas the CNURA government indicated in its policy document that reconciliation is their number one priority and one of the measures that the government has identified to fulfill this objective was the Establishment of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
